We are chartered by Pawnee Bill Ranch in Pawnee, Oklahoma.  We have a great program for boys in first though fifth grades.  Most of our members attend Pawnee Elementary School, we encourage all boys  in the area who are interested in becoming a scout to joining Cub Scouting.

Pinewood Derby NEWS

 

 

Pinewood Derby is well underway!  We would like to invite everyone to join us for the first Annual Valentine’s Classic Pinewood Derby. 

 

February 13, 2010

Pawnee Elementary School Gymnasium. 

Registration will start at 8:00 am. 

 

Everyone is invited to build their own car and race with us in an Open Class.  Basic Pinewood Derby rules will apply for the open class.  The Open Class will consist of a 5oz car and an 8oz car Class.  

 

As part of our national “Scouting for Food” project, anyone that brings two canned goods for the Pawnee Food Bank will receive $1.00 off entry fee.  In order for us to get a count for race day, we have a sign up form for you to submit.  These need to be turned in by February 7th.

 

Entry fees - per car

·     12 and under    $3.00

·     13 and up         $5.00

Pinewood derby kits can be purchase locally at True Vale located at 405 6th Street in Pawnee.  If you do not live in Pawnee you can also purchase a kit from scoutstuff.org

PACK NEWS

 

2010!  A new Year and a new start!  I hope everyone is working hard towards their Rank!  February marks the Celebration month for the Boy Scout Program!  The BSA was created in 1910!  100 Years old next month!  What a great organization to belong too!  As the New Year begins, many activities are going to take place.  I would like to get them on your calendar now!  Some are at the Pack Level and others are at the District Level.  But if we plan now, we can all and have fun!

This month we have a few events for you to attend. 

1) The popcorn Celebration. 

Sunday January 17 at the United Methodist Church at 5:30 pm.  we will be giving our prizes and watching a movie.

2) Leonardo's Cub Scout Lock In

Explore science, earn Cub Scout advancements,
and explore Leonardo’s Discovery Warehouse
with hands on exhibits entitled “Eureka!” , activities,
crafts, and experiments. Wake up the next
morning to explore Adventure Quest, the world’s
largest community-built playground.   The Pack is paying for any scout that wishes to attend Parent cost is 10.00 each. (click on the link above for more information.)

This months pack and den meetings will be spent working on our pinewood derby's.  The Pack level races will be held on February 13th in the Grad school gymnasium.  Registration time will start at 8:00 am.  Races will start just as soon as all the cars are registered.

This year will be our first annual Valentine Classic Pinewood derby contest. This event has been opened up to the public.

Camping notes:

 

As the time grows near our camping season, double-check your camping gear.  Now is a good time to start collecting items!  We will be camping in the warmer months.  If you would like to help head this committee, please let us know!

 

If you are not able to make Pack Meetings or Den Meeting – be sure to let your leaders know.
